But I figured my reply warrants the attention. While I love Sears for carrying Crafstman stuff, and I think Crafstman still makes good tools, I'd be wary of buying their cheap tool chests. My philosophy on something like a tool chest is you buy quality once so you don't have to keep buying shit. Those small cheap tool boxes seem like a deal, but they are pretty cheaply built. Thin metal (1/16" if that), cheapo bearings on the drawers and I can guarantee that after a year of holding any amount of weight in tools at all, the drawers would fall apart and be pretty useless.

When I was shopping for a nice new tool chest, I got the middle of the line Craftsman bench top chest. Thicker metal, sturdier bearings, overall nicer build quality. I think I paid $180 on sale, and it was worth every bit.

As a note (unless you've tried this already) adding "/all" to the URL makes comments possible, as does clicking/commenting a picture, or replying to a post that has replies already. Kinja has been broken in this manner almost all day.

FYI, Kinja is being terribad right now. If you add '/all' to the url, you can comment on posts. And I know what you mean about buying shit over and over. My current tool chest is a Husky chest I got at Home Depot for $30 and it is god awful, however I think these are legit seeing as how they're out of production models that were retailing for several hundred when new, but now are just left over stock. There is a Sears Outlet store about 5 minutes from my parents' house and I'm going to check some of those out tomorrow and see if they're any good.

I inherit most of my tools and tool boxes from my grandfather. I always try to keep the craftsman stuff to myself and not share it with my brother like I'm suppose to. Lifetime warranty yo! Don't skimp on tool chests and always get more space than you need is what I've learned.

Ahh didn't see the original price tag. Those look like their middle of the pack series, so they're probably decent. Happy shopping!

Personally, I prefer to skimp on the chest rather than the tools. As long as you lubricate the bearings/slides on occasion most cheap chests will last years when not overloaded or abused. I have a roll around cart I bought from harbor freight about 6 years ago. It has been abused and overloaded and still works beautifully. Cheap tools on the other hand can make a simple job turn into a nightmare. Let's say you're replacing a faulty oxygen sensor, easy to access, should take about 10 minutes at the most. But wait! It has rusted and seized in the exhaust! I'll just put more force against it with this value priced oxygen sensor socket. Fuq! It rounded off the sensor and then cracked and let go so I punched this damn pinch weld and blood is gushing from my knuckles. Now I have to borrow a quality socket from Bob the neighbor. Fuq! Now it won't fit because the cheap socket FUBAR'ed it!

I'm not saying go buy strap-on or cornhole or whatever other expensive brand you can find. Just be cautious and discerning. I use crapsman and every other brand you can think of, and have been in situations like this before. It sucks.

I agree on tools, all the tools I have are Craftsman (best I could afford), but I've dealt with shitty boxes and all they are to me are shitty, even if you keep the bearings lubed. Harbor Freight surprisingly sells some decent tool chests, but any of the Husky or Stanley crap or the low end Craftsman stuff in my mind is just throwing money away.
